Nate really wanted to buy this house when it was presented to us … I, however, was not so confident. It’s in a great area of Provo but its backyard is also on one of the busiest streets in Provo. With past experience of selling houses on a busy street, I was not all that excited to be doing this deal. There wasn’t a ton of stuff to do, just a couple bigger problems to solve like, mold in one of the garages, too much bare stucco on the exterior of the house and the backyard was all cement making it feel pretty boring and almost sterile. We fixed all the problems and it turned out great. It took a long time to sell because of the street it was on. But it’s really funny how things work out, we actually ended up selling the house to Nate’s parents! Isn’t that funny?!  They were needing the space so they bought the house in Provo and we bought their old house to rehab and sell later (you’ll see those before and afters soon).

Biggest change made: The interior paint was the ugliest “coffee stain” paint throughout the entire house and we changed it to Toasted Almond walls and Colonial White baseboards by Olympic and it turned out great!

Exterior Color: Kept it the same but added dark stained shutters and painted gray coins to the corners of the exterior of the house.

We bought it for $355,000

Our renovation cost was $50,000

We sold it for $445,000

There are obviously more costs in there than just a renovation cost and the purpose of this blog isn’t to tell you $ for $ how much we made on each deal but I’ll let you use your imagination and guess how much money we made or lost (because unfortunately that happens too).
